Week at a Glance: June 1st – 5th

For this week, I would like you to please watch the video below to help you answer the following questions for this week’s journal entry. We are sticking with the theme of COVID-19’s positive impact on the environment.

https://globalnews.ca/video/6783180/the-positive-environmental-impact-of-covid-19

Questions to answer while/after watching the video….
• WHERE in the world have we seen great positive changes in terms of environment?
• What are these countries doing differently to cause such great decreases in their CO2 emissions?
• What do you think about Catherine’s quote: “We’re seeing all these changes, and I think we can take some lessons from them, but we don’t want to celebrate them.” ?
• What are some of the lessons she says we can take away from this moment in history?
• What are some of the key positive changes that we have seen in our environment? (i.e. decrease of CO2 emissions)
• What do you think is the “big message” she’s trying to get across?
• What did she have to say to the news reporter’s question about what’s going to happen to the environment after COVID-19? What do YOU think about this?

Week at a Glance: May 25 – 29th

Now that you have explored COVID-19’s impact on the function of countries around the world, I would like you now to explore the only real benefit of COVID-19the positive impact it is having on our environment.

Your journal entry should be anywhere between 4-8 sentences…and here’s what you can be asking yourself while researching and writing…

– WHY has COVID-19 had a positive impact on the environment? (This is a pretty obvious question….)

– HOW has COVID-19 had a positive impact on the environment? (This is where you need to do some research…)

– What do you think will happen to the environment when restrictions are lifted? Do you think the impact of COVID-19 will be long lasting? Do you think people will appreciate the environment more after this?
(Your opinion based on research…)
